The Process
At Trophy Solutions Africa, their taxidermy services are crafted to professionally and meticulously preserve your hunting memories. Once your safari concludes, their team coordinates the collection of your trophies from our location, providing nationwide trophy management to ensure safe and secure delivery.
Once they receive your trophies and documentation, their skilled artists will begin working on your order with an emphasis on precision. From sculpting to final quality control, they ensure excellence in every step of the mounting process. Whether you’re interested in European (shield) mounts or full (life-size) mounts, they maintain a high standard throughout. Not sure how you’d like your trophies mounted? Their team is here to offer guidance and suggestions, and if you have unique ideas, they can bring them to life with custom designs.
For those who prefer to handle taxidermy at home or at a later time, they also offer a Dip & Pack service. This includes cleaning, preparation, and drying of raw trophies, as well as sterilization for safe international export. Their veterinary-approved Dip & Pack facility guarantees that your mounts are pest-free and ready for transit.
Interested in transforming animal hides into leather? Their tanning services allow you to turn raw skins into beautiful upholstery pieces, gun cases, and more. Tanning is a specialized process that stabilizes raw skins, preserving them long-term. They also offer hair-on tanning for flat skins suitable for rugs, as well as colour-tanning options for leather products.

FROM HARVEST TO HOME…
This process guarantees that your trophy is preserved with care and professionalism, ensuring it arrives at your home as a lasting reminder of your hunting experience.
Collection and Initial Handling
- After the hunt, trophy photos are taken, and the animal is loaded onto a hunting vehicle with special care to avoid skin damage. The animal is quickly transported to the skinning shed.
Skinning and Preparation
- The animal is transported to our skinning shed. Where it is gutted, skinned, and the meat is stored in our cold room.
- Each part of the animal is tagged with the client’s name and the specific part (e.g., hide, head).
- Skins and heads are carefully cleaned of excess fat, blood, and meat.
Salting and Drying
- Skins are immersed in a saturated salt solution for at least 5 hours.
- After soaking, they’re placed on a clean surface and covered in salt, which helps preserve them. The skins remain in salt for a minimum of 3 days, during which they are turned daily.
- The skins are hung in a shaded, well ventilated area until it is sufficiently dried (about 90%) after which it is then folded, ready for collection.
Taxidermy Processing
- The taxidermist collects the animal parts along with all necessary documentation, ensuring every detail matches the collection register.
- Skins are cleaned and rehydrated again at the taxidermist’s facility.
- The client is notified of every step of the process, preferences are confirmed, and a quote is provided. Work begins once a deposit is received.
- The trophy is tanned, mounted, polished, and subjected to quality checks.
Final Delivery
- Export arrangements are coordinated with a shipping agent.
- Upon arrival, a clearing agent ensures customs clearance and final delivery to the client’s home.
